Alerts

Alerts lists things that need someone's attention, newest first.

What raises an alert

AlertSeverityWhen
Reader offlinecriticalA reader that should be running has lost contact with Titan. The message includes the reason (see Readers).
Reader running hotwarningA reader reports 65 °C or more and may start to throttle.
Asset missingwarningAn available asset hasn't been seen for 10 minutes (see Assets).

A reader someone has deliberately stopped never raises an offline alert, and stopping it clears any offline alert it already had.

Alert states

  • Open. Just raised.
  • Acknowledged. Someone has seen it and is dealing with it. Acknowledging stops it standing out, but doesn't close it.
  • Resolved. The problem has gone away. Titan resolves reader alerts by itself when the reader comes back online. You can also resolve an alert by hand.

Titan keeps at most one open alert per problem. A reader that keeps dropping in and out has one alert, not dozens.

Filter the list by state to see what's still open. The list shows the most recent 200 alerts.

Getting alerts elsewhere

Alerts show in the hub and on the Dashboard. Titan doesn't send email or SMS notifications. To route alerts into your own system (a ticketing tool, a chat channel), poll the Alerts API.
